Our Planning and Development department is seeking an auxiliary Clerk Typist 3 to join our team! If you’re looking for an exciting opportunity with the Plumbing & Gas Inspection division, here’s your chance. This person will have excellent communication skills and knowledge of clerical work. The incumbent prepares, processes, and maintains and/or supervises the preparation, processing and maintenance of a large volume of records, files, permits, licenses, indexes and accounts pertaining to department activities, manually and/or by using a computer terminal to enter, revise, update and retrieve information. You will also relieve professional and other staff of administrative duties. Other tasks may include data entry for backflow prevention, word processing reports, letters, memos, and forms. Ensures all entries are processed accurately and rapidly. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include up to high school graduation including or supplemented by courses in word processing and standard commercial subjects plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Rapid and accurate typing is crucial. The successful applicant will have sound knowledge of business English in written and oral form, clerical and record keeping methods and procedures, the ability to understand and interpret oral and written instructions, and the ability to make moderately complex computations and tabulations. Ability to successfully meet and effectively deal with the public in interpreting and explaining departmental rules and regulations.

Hours and shifts are dependent on operational requirements. Typical hours of work are any three weekdays from 8 AM – 4:30 PM.
