The City of Coquitlam is currently recruiting two regular full-time Communications Operator 1’s to join our amazing Operations team. If you are interested in civilian police work and you are looking to make a difference in the community, this may be the job for you.
In this position, you will work as part of a team while responding to 911 emergency and non-emergency calls for service. You will employ your exceptional listening skills to extract pertinent information from callers, enter critical details into police systems, and remain calm in stressful circumstances. Accuracy of work is key in taking reports and creating files and strong computer and keyboarding skills are essential.
The ideal candidate is a respectful and diplomatic individual who possesses sound judgement and decision making skills. You are poised and tactful, with the ability to make decisions quickly and accurately. Considerable geographical knowledge of the Tri-Cities and surrounding area is preferred. A minimum requirement is a high school diploma and additional education or training in criminology, psychology, law, conflict resolution, crisis intervention, or other related fields will be considered an asset. There is also a requirement to obtain and maintain an Enhanced RCMP Security Clearance as a condition of employment.
This position offers a CUPE hourly rate of $26.87 – $31.56 (2022 rates) plus an excellent benefits package.
