The Engineering, Parks & Environment department requires a regular, full-time Development Technician 2.  You will perform technical engineering work involving reviewing development applications concerning complex subdivision, development permit and rezoning proposals and projects.
 
The Development Services team is responsible for ensuring developments conform to all off-site (public realm) requirements, such as site servicing, access, streetscape construction, subdivision conditions, etc.  As a member of the team, you will analyze, check and process applications and engineering works associated with land development, subdivision, rezoning, building permits, and utility company proposals.  In addition, you will review and discuss servicing agreements, ensure conformance and adherence to requirements, standards, regulations and bylaws; evaluate effect on municipal services; prepare cost estimates for construction of municipal services; prepare work permits; inspect work in the field; interpret requirements and policies for developers, agents and contractors; and resolve construction conflicts.  You will provide guidance/assistance to junior development servicing staff.
 
You will have related experience, preferably in municipal engineering practices, servicing design, land development processing including review and inspection.  A certificate or diploma in Civil Engineering technology, or a combination of related experience and education is required.  Preference will be given to candidates that are eligible for registration with ASTTBC.  Proficiency in AutoCAD and a valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s License are required. 
 
You will be required to provide your own transportation in return for reimbursement according to the Vehicle Policy.
 
Salary:           
$39.50 to $46.64 per hour
(Pay Grade 25 – January 2021 rates)
 
Hours of Work:
The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
