Director, MiWay

As Ontario’s third largest municipal transit service provider, MiWay serves a growing population of roughly 766,000 across 179 square kilometres in Mississauga. MiWay delivers express, local and school route services. There are about 500 buses in the fleet servicing 65 transit routes. By mid-2024, hybrid-electric buses will make up 41 per cent of the MiWay fleet. MiWay connects with GO Transit, Toronto Transit Commission, Brampton Transit, Milton Transit and Oakville Transit, enabling travel within Mississauga and across municipal boundaries.

Reporting to the Commissioner, Transportation & Works, the Director, MiWay provides overall strategic and operational leadership to the Transit Division. The Director is accountable for a $218M annual operating budget, 1450 employees, a bus fleet of 489 units and a $90M revenue target. The Director integrates higher order transit and connections with other GTHA systems within the wider transit network and ensures commitments are met in the MiWay Customer Charter with respect to safety, reliability, and on-time performance. They will integrate upcoming Light Rail and Bus Rapid Transit corridors into MiWay operations.

The ideal candidate will come with a minimum of 10 years progressively responsible senior level experience with experiences related to the key responsibilities of the position, as well as proficiency in leading multi-disciplinary teams and working effectively in a multistakeholder environment. Strong strategic planning, operational leadership, and management skills, as well as working knowledge of relevant regulations and legislation. Demonstrated competencies in effectively implementing significant projects with multiple interests and funding sources in a consultative and collaborative manner with a focus on deliverables will be key to success in this leadership role.
