About the Opportunity
Our growing Courtenay office of 15 people is looking to add a capable and hardworking Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to our team. Are you keen to benefit from the support of industry professionals and experienced engineers while working on exciting and inspiring projects that make a visible difference in many communities? The Courtenay teams generally works for small to medium municipal and indigenous communities. In addition to the learning and project experience, you can:

  • Hone your civil engineering skills and develop an understanding of technical best practices in real world applications (water, sewer, stormwater, land development, etc.)
  • Apply theory and provide workable solutions related to the design and implementation of municipal infrastructure
  • Conduct inspections and ensure designs are built to specifications
  • Build and grow relationships with existing project leaders and clients; proactively and professionally communicate with contractors, co-workers, clients, and the general public
  • Provide accurate and timely input on technical reports, plans, studies, proposals, and oral presentations as required

 
About You
This opportunity is well suited to new graduates from a civil, environmental, or engineering program with up to 3 year of experience. Candidates should be eligible for registration with EGBC. In addition, the following attributes would be considered a benefit to this role:

  • A keen interest in pursuing a career working on civil infrastructure, from feasibility to design and construction projects in Western Canada, based out of Courtenay
  • A desire to work for small to medium size communities with a variety of infrastructure projects.
  • Effective communication skills (technical, written and verbal), and you enjoy collaborating with others
  • Ability to undertake, with the support of the team, technical studies, hydraulic calculations, and design tasks (experience with AutoCAD).
  • Experience with water/stormwater systems: feasibility study, pump selection, modeling (water cad & PC Swim)
  • Ability to be engaged on multiple projects, prioritize work and meet timelines, and generally thrive in a self-directed work environment
  • Driven with a desire to take initiative, a problem solver that continually delivers consistent, high-quality work
  • Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development
  • Hold a valid class 5 drivers’ license
