The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Manager, Legal Services to join our team of professionals in the Municipal Administration Division. Reporting to the Director, Strategic Advice, Legal and Human Resources, in this exempt position you will provide legal services and advice on matters related to real estate and development in accordance with requirements prescribed by the Local Government Act, Land Title Act, Community Charter, federal and provincial statutes and regional and/or municipal bylaws.
You will work in a multi-disciplinary team environment and provide legal services and advice to Mayor and Council, the Chief Administrative Officer, Senior Management Team, and advise various internal contacts on a broad range of legal matters, ensuring accordance within the governing legal framework. You will provide strategic legal advice on initiatives, programs and projects related to major land development, rezoning, subdivision and development processes and prepare leases and license agreements, development agreements. The Manager, Legal Services prepares, reviews and advises on easements, right of ways, restrictive covenants and complex air space subdivisions for mixed-use projects.
Your education will include a university degree in Law with a minimum of 5 years of related experience practicing municipal law or providing legal services to a municipality. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Professional membership with the Real Estate Institute of BC or Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI) designation are considered assets. With strong negotiation and administrative skills, you are enthusiastic, organized and have thorough knowledge of real estate law, local government, and land development strategies and practices.

- Practicing member (in good standing) of the Law Society of British Columbia
