The goal of the City of Burnaby and its employees is to consistently deliver first class service and services to our community. With this in mind, we hire people who share the same passion, those with the drive and determination to grow with and contribute to our already exceptional team. People like you!

If you’ve got a winning combination of tech-savvy and customer service know-how, then our Microcomputer Support Specialist 1 opportunity is for you! In this role, you’ll be an IT point person for City of Burnaby employees, supporting the deployment of Microsoft 365 across the City, troubleshooting and documenting issues in an IT Service Management system, setting up hardware and other devices and answering IT related questions. Along with your knowledge of IT, it’s important that you have patience, empathy, and superior communication and customer service skills since you’ll be working with various people from different departments. Responsibilities include using software tools to image computers and install desktop applications, deploy computers and peripherals and ensure users are set up correctly; replace components; and remotely shadow end-user desktops to assist users. You will also perform related work as required.

We prefer you to have some related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is also required. You should be well-versed in IT components such as hardware, peripherals, software applications, and workstation operating systems. You’re also eager to learn about different departments and finding solutions for their IT-related needs. You should also have the ability to work well with your colleagues, teammates and customers in all levels of the City.

Hours and shifts are dependent on operational requirements and are scheduled by the department on an as needed basis. We are anticipating 5 days per week and regular hours of work are Monday to Friday between 8:00am – 4:45pm. We are looking for candidates with availability to work close to full time hours for the duration of the project from July to September 2023.

Pay Rate: $29.52 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits (2023 Rate).
