Payroll Coordinator

Temporary Full-Time (Up to 1 year)

We are currently looking for a talented Payroll Coordinator to join our busy, fast paced and highly effective Payroll team in the Finance Division in a temporary full-time capacity.
 
This position will help ensure that employees are paid accurately and on time, while focusing on defined best practices and demonstrating a commitment to sustaining a high level of service to our employees. This role will coordinate the preparation and transmission of bi-weekly payroll, including the calculation of payouts and processes, review and correction of irregularities in payroll processes, compilation and balancing of year-end reports such as T4’s and other reconciliations and adjustments, pension plan remittances, as well as the interpretation of various legislation and regulations related to payroll administration. A key measure of success will be communicating with the Payroll Clerks and Payroll Manager throughout the pay process workflow to ensure issues are identified and all tasks are completed effectively.
 
The successful incumbent will have excellent attention to detail, work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment, have proven payroll experience and will be able to build effective relationships with a variety of internal client groups. Experience with relevant payroll software such as Peoplesoft (or similar software) will be considered an asset.
 
Requirements include completion of Grade 12 supplemented by relevant courses or certificates in payroll administration plus considerable related experience, preferably in a municipal or public sector, or an equivalent of training and experience.

The City offers an hourly salary of $34.23 to $40.29 (2022 CUPE rates) plus 6 % in lieu of benefits. This position is based in Coquitlam with some flexible, hybrid work options available.
