North Vancouver Recreation & Culture (NVRC) is dedicated to building healthy individuals, families, and communities. We are currently looking for Piano Instructors to teach private lessons for adults, youth, and children.
 
ABOUT YOU
You are a team player committed to community. You will plan and instruct developmentally appropriate piano lessons for students of varying experience, skill level, and age.  You have previous experience teaching piano, and supervising students. You know how to create and maintain a safe learning environment and engage students to expand their interest in piano. You work well independently in a creative environment utilizing your leadership and people skills. You are an excellent communicator with a positive, energetic and enthusiastic attitude.
                    
SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • In-depth knowledge of piano and music theory
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and supervisory skills 
  • Proven ability to create and implement lesson plans for learners of different skill level, age, and experience.
  • Ability to build a rapport with students, parents of students, and staff
  • Some knowledge of community recreation principles and practices
  • Ability to be flexible in a dynamic environment, and work independently 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Candidates must have formal piano training and 2 years teaching experience.
 
All instructors working with children must have a current Emergency First Aid certificate and HIGH FIVE: Principles of Healthy Child Development training (available online through BCRPA).
  
All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check.
 
Instructors should be prepared to work days, evenings and/or weekends at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location.
 
North Vancouver Recreation & Culture is proud of the quality programs they offer and the fun atmosphere staff enjoy while working with children, youth and adults of all abilities!
 
Hours of Work: 8 hours per week Tuesday and Thursdays at John Braithwaite Community Centre from 3:15-7:15pm
 
HOURLY RATE:  $24-34/hour based on training & experience, plus 4% in lieu of benefits
