Property, Risk and FOI Manager

The Property, Risk and FOI Manager is responsible for property management and risk management functions and planning, training, implementing and maintaining the freedom of information (FOI) functions for the City. The work involves providing leadership and management of active, complex FOI requests made to the City under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA); performing negotiations with respect to the development, expropriation, purchase, sale, lease and rental of City properties, required land title functions; point of contact and managing the City’s claims, including designing strategies, systems and policies to minimize losses in the City; and managing the City’s property and liability insurance requirements. You will also be responsible for all legislated processes regarding City property, reviewing contract and tender documents in relation to property; and providing advice to City staff on FOI and privacy matters.
You will be the point of contact within the City regarding property, risk and FOI, this position works independently reporting to the Director of Corporate Administration.
Your previous experience and accomplishments demonstrate you can assess and ensure all statutory requirements under FIPPA are being met and you bring strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preforming property and claim negotiations. It is essential that you can handle highly confidential and sensitive information and respond with tact and diplomacy. As a successful candidate you will have successfully completed a university degree in a relevant field, such as Law, Real Estate or Public Administration, plus three to five years of related experience, including extensive knowledge and experience working with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Possession of Canadian Risk Management (CRM) certification is desirable. A valid Class 5 Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record is required and you must have the ability to successfully pass a police information check. This position is a Band 4 and the annual rate is between $70, 052 ‐ $93,002 (salary for this position is currently under review).
