The Urban Landscape Supervisor performs a variety of skilled horticultural and urban landscape tasks that involve design, development, construction and maintenance of landscaped areas.  The position will be significant in coordinating all aspects of urban landscape in the City as a working supervisor.  The incumbent will develop an implementation plan of horticultural and landscape design for new park projects and upgrade existing parks and will work closely with administration and assist in the creation of policies, procedures and bylaws that are established and followed.  In addition will review design drawings on landscape design, provide comments and approve or reject landscaping infrastructure.  The position will plan, organize, direct and participate in the work of staff engaged in a variety of urban landscape, horticulture and park related tasks. The position will bring expertise in various maintenance of floral and natural planted areas, lawns, trees and park amenities utilizing techniques and practices consistent with industry standards. In the off-season the position is supplemented with the preparation and planning of all urban landscape, as well as snow/ice control and maintenance of outdoor recreational activities.
Qualified candidates must have a degree/diploma, or trade program in horticulture, natural resource management, landscape design, ecology, permaculture, ecosystem restoration or other parks related field.  Three years experience in the maintenance of landscape/horticulture areas and the administration and practical application related to landscape design and maintenance. Other qualifications include; Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Training, Management Skills for Supervisors Certificate or equivalent, BC Pesticide Applicator’s License, Occupational First Aid Level I, and Class 5 BC Driver’s.
