Weight Room Attendant
The City of Delta is looking for qualified Weight Room Attendants to fill in auxiliary roles at fitness facilities in North Delta, Ladner, and Tsawwassen. This is recreation and custodial work in a fitness centre involving responsibility for the safety and control of the fitness centre area and patrons. The Weight Room Attendant assists and guides patrons in the use of exercise equipment and is responsible for the effective use and maintenance of the facility and equipment. Work is performed under general supervision and is evaluated by a superior in terms of effectiveness of instruction and conformance to established practices and by the public in terms of services rendered.
The incumbent will have considerable knowledge of proper exercise programs and the use of exercise equipment, as well as knowledge of the theory of movement, body mechanics, and the prevention of sports injuries. The incumbent should also have the ability to instruct individuals and groups (including special needs groups) on physical fitness exercises and should have the ability to demonstrate a complete exercise package.
The successful candidate will possess a minimum of BCRPA/CFES Fitness Theory and Weight Training Registration, as well as a current First Aid & CPR-C Certification. Consideration will also be given to those possessing Canfitpro, CSEP, ACE, ACSM and/or NSCA personal training certifications. Willingness to register with BCRPA within the first year of employment is a requirement, if currently with one of the aforementioned agencies. Preferred candidates will also have experience providing training and guidance in a fitness setting.
This auxiliary position works non-standard hours which will primarily include early mornings or evenings and weekends. Applicants wishing to be considered for this position must be available for these shifts
